Lightweight, heavy duty, universal light lifting solution for grow lights.
The FGI motorized light lift is a great tool for managing PAR on canopy. It can raise and lower lights 30 inches to give you an even distribution of brightness, making it perfect whether your plants are close or far away from the source! The universal mounting system allows any brand of lamps to be installed with ease too; so there's no need worry about getting wrong type equipment when trying new techniques at growing indoors.
Mount at any distance from ceiling. Upper light lift rail holds twin pnumatic motors activated by an up/down switch. The lower rail holds your lights. Heavy duty steel cable connects the top and bottom rail on a set of pullys coordinated to pull the lower rail up and down.
The lower rail, when fully retracted (pulled all the way up) should be set to where you want the lights at finished canopy height. This would be the same height you'd choose if you did not use a light lift.
30" of travel allows you to drop the lights during the plant strecth phase to increase PAR levels you would otherwise lose by having your lights mounted in a fixed position.
Wasted PAR, wasted energy cost.
Grow lights lose 50% of their energy over distance. For example if you bought lights to produce 1200 umols/ms at finished canopy height, say 18". Each 12" further away will reduce PAR by 50%. At 24" from the light PAR will drop to 600 umols/ms. At 36" PAR will drop by 50% once again to 300 umols/ms which is less than what Veg plants require, not to mention early flowering plants.
The lightlift gives back wasted PAR and allows growers to concentrate the PPPFD they desire at all stages of growth.

Install Notes:
The FGI Lightlifter comes with pre-assembled top rails with pneumatic arms and steel aircraft cable. It ships in 8' sections with joining hardware to extend the final lift to 16'. The lower rails come pre-assembled and we provide sets of clevis cotter pins and rail insertion guides.
The lifts consist of twin upper and lower rails. The upper rail has four loops, one at each end, and allows for attachment to ceiling truss which we recommend be done with lengths of stainless steel threaded rod (not provided). The rod should be sized to allow the upper rail to be suspended at a height for the top limit of travel, or in other words the furthest you want the lights to be from the canopy. The lower rails on the lift hold the lights which have 30" of travel when fully extended. Steel aircraft cable (all parts provided) allows for a strong and safe up/down travel.
Alternatively, the lift can be suspended from the ceiling truss using chain (not provided).
Also recommended for simplifying the truss connection is lengths of Unistrut or Superstrut attached to the ceiling truss. Threaded eye bolts installed on the strut allow for adjustments after the fact.
Lift mounting width: The twin 16' rails are independent of one another. In other words, they do not need to be attached to one another. Each of the two sets of top and bottom lifting rails can be mounted at any distance. This allows the lift to be easily adapted to most brands of grow lights. The rail sets would then be mounted at the same distance that the light mounting points are from one another. This allows the lights to be balanced and properly sized to fit the lifts.
Light attachment: Our lifts were designed for FGI brand grow lights which have flip up brackets sized to fit into the lower lift rails. However in most cases any brand of light can be used with the lifts. Rope hangers or steel loop cables can be used to attach to the provided mounting guide and clevis with cotter pins. Rope hangars and loop cables are not provided.

About Growing with Far Red Energy
Far-red light is good for plant growth. It can increase photosynthesis, enhance growth, and increase plant size. Far-red light is significant to plants because it increases the ability of plants to capture light. Plants use light not only as a source of energy, but also for information about the surrounding environment.
Far-red light is typically not absorbed much by plant leaves, and it doesn't drive any photosynthesis because it is mostly reflected off leaves. However, if a plant "senses" a greater ratio of far-red to normal light then it "knows" that obstructions or other plants are close to it.
Far-red light can also regulate leaf angle and increase plant height and leaf area, via expression of associated genes, to capture more light energy.
The lightbar features a crystal lens that covers the diodes, making it waterproof and resistant to overspray. Additionally, the lightbar is designed to be easily moved and bumped around, making it one of the most versatile and user-friendly grow lights on the market. However, what sets this light apart from others is its ability to stimulate plant morphology. By emitting a high intensity of far red light, the FGI Far Red Lightbar encourages plant growth and development, making it the perfect choice for any serious gardener or farmer.
Use far red energy in veg to keep plants compact and strong. Recent studies at Utah State University by Dr Bruce Bugbee, have proven that additional energy, even in the red spectrum, keeps plants more compact.
The science of using far red light on plants
Recent studies at the University of Texas El Paso / University of Texas Arlington, concluded that plants exposed to full spectrum plus dosing with far red spectrum, increased overall plant mass/yield and also improved terpene profiles. Read the study here.
The light coverage of this product is unmatched. It will fully cover a 4' wide grow tray in bloom and generally covers a 2' wide swath. We recommend a pair for each 4x4 grow space and this unit comes with hardware which allows you to position it inside the frame of most 5 and 8 bar full spectrum LEDs. This light system is one of the best on the market and will give your plants the light they need to thrive. Targeting the Emerson Effect.
The Emerson Effect is the name given to the increase in the rate of photosynthesis that occurs when chloroplasts are exposed to far red energy just before the nighttime lights off cycle. This effect was first discovered by scientist Alexander Emerson in 1883, and it has since been extensively studied by plant biologists.
While the Emerson Effect is typically associated with increases in photosynthesis, it can also lead to other changes in plant physiology, such as increased cell division and growth.
One way to take advantage of the Emerson Effect is to use our supplimental far red LED grow light for 10-15 minutes after full spectrum lights are turned off. If you are looking to create the ideal environment for your plants, an LED grow light can help you to achieve the Emerson Effect.
Far Red Spectrum
Use
We recommend 2 units per 4x4 grow space for daytime enhanced PPFD delivery. Height over canopy should be the same as your full spectrum LED but it will not hurt the plants to hang beneath a 4x4 LED.
Time
General use:
Studies indicate that dosing with far red light is most effective with 4 hours on, 4 off, and 4 on. We recommend a digital wall timer, or if using TrolMaster the DSP-1 (for 110V connections) or a DSP-2 (for 240V).
Emerson Effect:
10-15 minutes after full spectrum lights are turned off.
Plant Morphology Theory
Plants use phytochrome to detect and respond to red and far-red wavelengths. Phytochromes are signaling proteins that promote photomorphogenesis in response to red light and far-red light. Phytochrome is the only known photoreceptor that absorbs light in the red/far red spectrum of light (600-750 nm). (source: Wikipedia)
Far Red light is believed to create a competitive response in plants, pushing desirable terpene production and assisting in the formation of trichomes.

Using the LMA-14 Adapter (Adapter F) for multiple lights
The LMA-14 Adapter can be used for 24 Drivers (LEDs) or 40 Ballasts with either the HCS-1 or HCS-2 Hydro-X controllers. Both the Hydro-X Controllers have 2 line lights giving the ability to control double the amount of each type of light (48 LEDs and 80 Ballasts).
All the other controlled modules are connected to the device channel.

The TS-1 (4 Wire) & TS-2 (6 Wire) thermostat stations are designed to replace a thermostat connected to a conventional cool only HVAC unit.

The ARS-1 mini-split air conditioner controller is a universal controller that works with most mini-split air conditioners (and some window-type AC units too), as long as the unit came with an IR / infrared remote controller.

The LMA-14 lighting adapter is specially designed to control a wide variety of lighting systems including FGI brand LEDs and HIDs.
TrolMaster’s Hydro-X system can control most of the horticultural lighting fixtures sold on the market today. Most light manufacturers provide the ability to control their lighting systems using what known as a low-volt control. That low-volt control can take many forms and communication protocols. TrolMaster makes several types of lighting adapters (LMA units) that allow the Hydro-x to control lights using their low-volt control option.
